Patio door glass takes more abuse than any window in the house — and when a tempered insulated panel fails, most homeowners are told they need a whole new door. Usually you don’t. GlassForge fabricates tempered IGUs to your exact panel size and swaps them into your existing frame.

While the sash is apart we service rollers, tracks and locks, so the door glides like new when we leave. Fogged slider glass, BB cracks, full shatters and failed seals are all routine work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace just the glass in a sliding door?
Yes. The tempered insulated unit comes out of the sash and a new one goes in — typically $300–$550 versus $2,500+ for a full door replacement. Frame, track and hardware stay.
My slider is foggy between the panes. Same fix?
Yes — fogging means the sealed unit failed. We fabricate a new tempered IGU with fresh Low-E and argon, and your view is clear again for a fraction of door replacement cost.
Why does my patio door need tempered glass?
Building code requires safety glazing in all doors — tempered glass breaks into small cubes instead of shards. Every panel we install is certified tempered and etched with the safety stamp inspectors look for.
My door is hard to slide. Can you fix that too?
Roller and track service is included with every glass replacement, and available standalone for $150–$250. Nine of ten ‘heavy’ doors just have worn rollers riding on a dirty track.
How long does replacement take?
Measure takes 20 minutes; tempered fabrication runs 3–7 business days; the swap itself takes about an hour. Shattered panels get boarded or fitted with a temporary panel the same day you call.
